Sub-$10K Humanoids: How Chinese OEMs Are Resetting the Price Floor

A wave of sub-$10,000 humanoid platforms from Chinese manufacturers is compressing BOM assumptions across the industry. We break down what the pricing reveals about actuator and reducer supply chains.

Chinese humanoid OEMs have spent the past two quarters converting prototype hype into published price tags — and the numbers are resetting expectations for the global market.

What the pricing data shows

Across the robots tracked in our directory, list prices for bipedal platforms now cluster in the ¥60,000–¥100,000 band (roughly $8,000–$14,000), with wheeled service models pushing below ¥5,000 in volume SKUs.

Why the floor is dropping

Three supply-chain factors dominate:

  1. Planetary roller screw localization — domestic reducer output has cut actuator BOM share dramatically versus 2023 import baselines.
  2. Harmonic drive overcapacity — at least a dozen certified domestic suppliers are now competing on the same tier-1 qualification cycle.
  3. Vertical integration — the largest OEMs now build joints in-house and sell them externally, effectively publishing their cost structure.

What it means for buyers

For overseas procurement teams, the sub-$10K tier makes multi-unit pilot deployments budgetable for the first time. Verify the registered legal entity on any quotation — several OEMs quote through trading subsidiaries rather than the manufacturing parent (the directory’s entity-name copy feature exists for exactly this reason).
